Special Needs Programme in Early Years
In Early Years we understand that each child learns and develops in different ways and at different rates. We also believe that all areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected.
The specialised teachers and psychologists in our Special Needs Programme, give additional support to those pupils who would benefit from a more personalised and individual learning environment. To this effect there are a variety of ongoing support activities throughout the academic year.
The support activities included in this programme are:
- PSE Social Skills
- Gross Motor
All of the support activities included in the Special Needs Programme are completely free of charge for all Markham families.

Improving number bonds and counting skills, developing a positive attitude towards Maths and growing more confident when doing Maths are some of the objectives of this activity.

Gross Motor Support:
This additional support is designed for Pre Kinder and Kinder pupils to better develop their gross motor skills, focusing on three areas: balance, ball skills and coordination. Increasing motivation, confidence and self-esteem, developing social skill and sensory processing as well as fine motor and visual motor skills are only some on the objectives of this activity.
This additional support is designed for Kinder and Primary 1 pupils to further develop English comprehension and speaking skills. This activity is offered to those pupils who would benefit from additional exposure to the English language in a smaller group setting with more personalised attention with native English speakers.
